Marcia's Obituary
Created by Sue 11 years ago
Marcia Jean Hoppe, 67, daughter of Ruben Fred and Mary Catherine, died on March 21, from complications arising from brain surgery. Marcia was born in Yakima on September 20th, 1945 and was the third of six children. She moved with the family to Lake Forest Park in 1948, graduating from Shoreline High School and attended UW.
Her love of sunshine sent her to southern California for a few years. Missing her family, she returned to the Seattle area where she worked at Boeing. After a 20 year career in the Spares department, she retired at 62. For the last few years she lived in Marysville.
She was an avid football and basketball fan usually knowing more about the teams and their players than others she worked with. She also enjoyed cooking. However, her greatest passions were reading and gardening. She always had a stack of paperbacks queued up and for years, haunted greenhouses, garden sales and plant catalogs looking for odd and beautiful additions to her gardens. She always bought more than her car would hold, rescuing the unfortunate ones. One of her greatest joys was sitting outside on a summer’s day near her flowers and vegetables, reading a paperback and sipping a cool drink.
Family was very important to Marcia. She doted on her nieces and nephews who she deeply and unconditionally loved. Marcia had a wicked sense of humor, quick wit, and her sarcasm was legendary. Even over the last year, as she struggled through the surgeries and rehabilitations, her sense of humor never left her. As each obstacle to her recovery arrived she would find a humorous way to deal with her problems and move on.
She is proceeded in death by her mother, father and 2 sisters, and is survived by her immediate family including Ralph, Ron, Dennis, Robbin, their spouses, and her many nieces and nephews.
